Troia: Muscatel wine: Visit the Vineyards and Wineries

Muscatel wine is a distinctive, sweet fortified wine from the Setúbal Peninsula in southern Portugal. Muscatel is one of the best-known and most icons wines of the Setúbal region and indeed Portugal. The wineries often provide guided tours where you can learn about the history of the region, the specific grape varieties grown, and the winemaking process. Some of the most famous wineries include:

José Maria da Fonseca: One of the oldest producers of Muscatel wine, founded in 1834. They have a deep history of winemaking and offer tours of their cellars, tastings of Muscatel and other wines, and a beautiful estate with a museum.

Quinta da Bacalhôa: Another significant winery in the region, offering tours of their vineyards and cellars. They produce both traditional and modern wines and have a reputation for quality Muscatel.

Casa Ermelinda Freitas: A family-run winery known for its excellent wines, including Muscatel, and its welcoming atmosphere.
